Color Frenzy

I tend to work in frenzied bursts of energy, where I can't think of anything but my current project.  My husband was out of town this last week, and so I had three days of uninterrupted time to finish this:
needle weaving
I absolutely love these colors, and I enjoy the needle-weaving technique.  My problem is that in the back of my mind I want my art to be practical, and I can't quite see how to use this.  It is about 9"x13," with raw edges;  I suppose I could sew it into a larger wall hanging..... any other ideas?

Needle Weaving

My mother loves texture, and she has collected interesting textures all my life:  driftwood, rusty iron, fancy yarns, photos of things she's seen on her travels, among other things.  She is especially fascinated by weaving, and I think I've inherited her fascination.  But unlike her, I am not really interested in getting a loom and working large scale.... I prefer the intimacy of a small piece.  Needle weaving (the uptown word for the darning stitch) is a technique I think I can use.

Oh darn....

I've been playing with water-soluble fabric, and making lacy structures on the sewing machine, which can then be used as a base for interesting textures.  Using what is essentially a darning stitch, I can see all kinds of possibilities to play with!  Here, I've needle-felted the "weaving" onto a base of RIT-dyed batting and wool roving.
